About the House of Slack The House of Slack started in the summer of 1996. My friends and I all lived on 7th and 8th in Seattle's U District. Almost every day after work and school we'd collect at the apartment Josh shared with a couple of friends. We'd sit down at the big game table, listen to baseball and play games until late into the night. Card games, board games, war games, miniatures games, RPGs, you name it, and we'd play it. We jokingly referred to the place as the House of Slack (never mind that it was an apartment).
So how does that bring us here? Well, the last Internet startup I worked at headed down a death spiral in the middle of 2000. This was no big surprise. But what to do next? The Internet startup scene was fading. It was time for a change. I needed a lot more slack in my diet. So I decided to start a game company. There were no doubts about what the name would be. I asked my friend Josh, who was developing a game for GMT at the time, if he wanted to join me, and here we are. ~ Cory Loewen |
